The Girl Scouts of North East Texas have partnered with Galleria Dallas to feature six inspiring local women leaders and entrepreneurs for their “Climb with Courage” campaign.
I am so honored to get to encourage young girls and women to step out and lead in entrepreneurship.
It was my mother who gave me the courage, and my daughters gave me the motivation to be an entrepreneur. Mi mama wanted me to pursue an education so that I could be independent, and when my girls were born I realized the importance of entrepreneurship as a way to ensure I had time with my family.
I hope that my example with teach girls that how you serve in your youth matters. I learned that the choices we make even when we’re young are the legacy we leave. You don’t have to wait until you’re all grown up to make a difference.
If there are young women out there that have big ideas, but are scared about pursuing them, I want to tell you that big ideas are for the courageous. Step out and try. And after you fail, get up and try again. It’s only when we keep getting up after failure that we truly succeed. So don’t lose heart.
It has been so rewarding to give back to my community through the Girl Scouts, as I look into the eyes of the next generation it motivates me to climb higher. I feel a responsibility to give them better opportunities because I believe that my ceiling will become their floor.
The exhibit at Galleria Dallas runs through the month of February 2022.
